[127] In further studies on indigo vat dyeing Anna Hartl and Dominique Cardon focus on current colour knowledge still present in indigenous cultures outside of Europe and document the whole process from plant growing and processing to dyeing. In this way the researchers also gain more insight into the effect that cultivation methods, processing technologies (drying, fermenting, coaching), and dye techniques have on the blue-dyed textiles and whether differences can be observed when the indigotin is characterized.
